You’re Into That Too?

By Frances Bryce, December 31, 2021 — Sometimes … younger people think your life was so different than theirs. I remember my nephew asking my husband when he was his age how did they start the cars. I said, “Oh he jumped out, cranked—” but you know, it was about the difference in their age, you know. But it was too funny! He wanted to know, like in the olden days.
I have a lot of the CDs. I even have some 78s from [when I lived in] California because I have the RCA…that piece of equipment that plays the 78 and I have the stand. I had one of those in California. It’s called the gramophone, or something like that. It’s sitting in a cabinet kind of thing and it still plays the 78s. I have the Ink Spots and something else and some that I was able to get, and when I bought it there was a guy who right away wanted to buy it from me and I said I bought it because I wanted it.

Well, I was amazed when my Aunt was telling me that she had it a houndstooth skirt or something and someone had said to her, “Oh they’re back!” and she said, “I never knew they had left,” because she had never stopped wearing them. A lot of people save their stuff and still wear that timely fashion.
