By Joe Romaniello, October 2, 2019 — I had a friend who I was working with in Newark. He said to me, “Joe, this upcoming Saturday I am going to go to Barringer High School to take the police officer test. Do you want to go with me?” I knew absolutely nothing about this exam, did not study for it or anything. We decided to end up taking the test together. Unfortunately, my friend failed the test, but I passed. I was so excited to have passed, but also extremely [nervous]. It was very unexpected, and I did not think that that was what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew I needed to support my wife. I got on the job and it was truly a highlight of my life. I really feel like it was just meant to be.
