By Bob Dwyer, April 14, 2019 — We have moved 7 times in our life with our children. Moving from one house to next the family always helped with each move. We lived in Long Island as our first home and in between our second home we lived in this rental apartment on the second story. I built this bookcase It was about 9 feet long and built very well. During this move, we tried to move the bookcase to our new apartment, but when bringing it up the steps we realized it would not fit around the corner. I went and got my sledgehammer. When I came back with it your grandma’s brother Charlie said, “What are you doing?” I replied, “What do you mean what am I doing — I’m breaking it apart.” My brother in law thought I was crazy, but the bookcase simply would not fit up the stairs in one piece. Later on, after the move, we went to Charlie’s house and saw he rebuilt the bookcase and put it in his house [because] he loved it so much.
