By Iris Williams, October 24, 2019 — The biggest change I have seen in my lifetime is my family coming full circle back to each other…finally becoming more loving, protective of each other, faith-filled followers of Christ…vital part of the community. My family is exactly like the one portrayed in the movie Soul Food where Big Momma made everyone feel as if we shared the most special secret place in her heart…Mom and Dad Chappelle were the best parents in the world to us…the biggest change in my lifetime was when mom passed on. The whole family well apart and stayed apart for years and years.
Christmas time, December 23, 1998 on her death bed, she made her children promise to go and do all things the same and in her name and for her sake go on and do all things the same and need be afraid to die for she’s waiting for us in the sky. What??? Do Christmas without your mom? I can’t… Christmas changed, the family went in different directions… Mom, how did you do it –keep us all together in love… brokenness?
Fast forward to October 2019. The biggest change I see now is Mom and Dad smiling down on us as we are now a strong family once again. Overcomes of changes in our lifetime.
