Since the Quarantine

By Jewel Grace, May 14, 2020 — I’m gonna tell you a couple things. I’m gonna tell you how I’m dealing with this situation, since the quarantine. The first night that it happened, I called a girlfriend of mine freaking out and she said, “We’re gonna make you a schedule.” So, we made a schedule. And it involves things like I meditate in the morning, and I start a gratitude list. So every day — I still do it, I write down a gratitude list, everything I’m grateful for. And other things like I take a walk and eat breakfast and this and that. So this has helped me, ever since this started. And I’m a person that likes to be out of the house every single day.

Some of the stuff I do is write poetry and when something comes to me I write poetry. I’ve been a part of an overeaters anonymous group, and it’s a 12-step program where you relate to your higher power, and I call my higher power Divine Wisdom, and also Gypsy Warrior. That’s just something that I made up, it came to me, it seemed to fit. So I wrote this poem, it’s called “Me and My Gypsy Warrior.” And so this is some of the stuff that I do also when I’m in quarantine, I write poems. So here is the poem I’m going to share with you.

Life’s a journey, says my Gypsy Warrior
Crashing forward with grace and dignity
Falling forward with aloofness and pride
Sweeping forward with guts and determination
Sliding, gliding, dancing, falling, tripping, slipping, forever gripping
Loving the eternity of it all
Embracing me without shame
Boosting me up, taking my hand, watch me resonate love
Me and my Gypsy Warrior.
