Seasons of Reflection

By Carolyn Boston, February 18, 2019 — Each season brings reflection of days gone by – of yesteryears never to be seen or experienced ever again.

The winter snow and snowball fights, leggings, Christmas gifts, under the tree, and making snow ice cream.

Spring with its fragrant blossoms filling the air, dying Easter eggs and eating jelly beans and chocolate marshmallow bunnies.

Summer, my favorite time of the year, always dances in dressed in its glorious garment of lush green. The scent of the ocean and the smell of the sun resting on its surface brought me exhilarated joy. The Jack and Jill ice cream trucks rode up and down the neighborhood and the expectancy of taking a trip with my parents to Atlantic City was always something to look forward to.

The refreshing air of fall streamed newness and excitement into my life as a young girl. Fall meant new clothes for school and reuniting with school friends after the long summer break.

As my senior days progress, I find myself reflecting a great deal more than I used to. I allow myself the pleasure of reflecting on the good memories of the seasons of my youth and smile with gratefulness.
