Respect

By Elliot Doomes, February 18, 2019 — About twenty years ago, I paid my bills. I finished my financial obligations and I was found debt-free. Don’t congratulate me yet. I boasted to myself and anybody else that would listen, “I don’t owe anybody anything.” But as reality and maturity set in, I came to the conclusion that I owe everybody. I owe every human being that I meet the same thing I owe myself: That one debt that I owe you is respect. And it’s a never-ending process for me to live by that motto. I was taught that respect must be earned and some people make no effort to earn it! Also, even though they haven’t earned it, I give them respect because I give myself respect. So respect the next person you meet.
