Old Fashioned?!

By Carlotta Fareira, November 7, 2017 — What’s old fashioned?  As I go through over 50 years plus of items collected, stored or put aside to read later I am finding gems I didn’t know I had.

There are cards of all sorts from my children, family and friends.  There are race results from my days of running like the results of the Broad Street Run in 1980.  I saved the article because I had run with my three brothers. That was special!  We came in in the order expected.  The real runner, brother Joe, who really ran well came in first and then Charles and John followed.  I was the fourth, but because I was older and there weren’t many women I was fourth of the women between 40 and 49.  I was 45 at the time.

I have found letters from my parents to me and letters from an assortment of other people.  It seems that people wrote letters quite frequently fifty years ago.  They are real treasures. There are trinkets that children from my classes gave me as well as gifts from my children.

I could go on and on.  This chore as I had thought has brought me much joy!  I’m calling family and friends telling them of my treasures.  What’s “old fashioned” to some is a blessing to others.  Some of my best days include the joy of discovery!!
