My Life

By Michele, August 27, 2014 — I was born in California and grew up there till I was 11 years old. Then my mom and us five kids moved here when I was 11 years old. My older brother was 2 years older than me, on down to my 2 sisters and youngest brother, who was 1. We relocated here to be closer to my grandparents and dad. My parents were born in Canada – my dad in Vancouver, BC, my mom in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. I grew up in Rainier Valley, went to Sharples Junior High and Cleveland High School. I moved to Washington, D.C. after I got out of high school and took a telephone operator job at the Pentagon for one year after several short jobs at a photography studio job and spent a short time in New Jersey. I came back to DC and worked a great secretarial job at different government agencies for 12 years – at USDA, Treasury Department, HUD, HEW. In between, I travelled to different countries in Europe and Jamaica and parts of Mexico – I did a two month Greyhound Travel 60 day bus pass around the USA and Canada. I did three cruises, which were fun. I still want to go to Alaska and Puerto Rico!! Then I’m done.

I just finished writing a book with photos in it of the parties I used to “crash” in DC in the 80s. In the photos are celebrities with me and them in the photo. There are 42 chapters in it. I signed with UW Bookstore to make all the copies in a month or two maybe. Hopefully I’ll do a book signing in November or December!
