My Job

By Mrs. Webster, April 3, 2019 — I worked with special needs kids and adults for 25+ years in Tennessee. There were many changes in my field as the years went on. I really got to see the beginnings of our culture changing to accept those who were a bit different and a movement of people advocating to better their qualities of life. At my job we taught them academics, which helped them feel more accepted. They were such fast learners! The best thing that ever happened was the sheltered workshop in town that enabled those who were special needs to have jobs and earn a living. That was so rewarding to be involved in. I think the world needs to know how much of an impact these people had on my life. We are all people who just want to be loved and accepted for who we are.
