My Getaway

By Joan Bunting, July 11, 2019 — When it was announced at my church that a trip had been arranged for us to go on a cruise, my heart started pounding with excitement.

I had been on a cruise twice, several years ago to the Bahamas. I was reminded of the great fun I had.

I wasn’t sure whether I would be able to afford this trip, but I was going to try and go.

I told my oldest daughter Rose about the trip, she called her three sisters and asked each of them to help out with the fare. Each of them was to send three hundred dollars. And some even gave me spending money.

Being that I enjoy traveling very much, even if it’s just going to New Jersey, New York, Delaware, anywhere, I get excited.

We left our church on June 29th and returned on the Fourth of July.

I had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, the crew was very friendly, the shopping on the ship and on the island was fun.

We had to pay for a lot of things, for instance, the van that took us to the Port, the ferry that sailed us to the Island, the beach lounging chairs ($17.00), the ban that brought us back to the ship, and the tips and gratuities for those that worked on the ship. But, it was well worth it all.

I bought some jewelry, three shirts, bracelets, for my daughters who made it possible for me to go.

Now I’m excited again. My oldest daughter has a daughter that lives in Johnstown, PA will be visiting her next month and guess who’s going with her? Me. I can hardly wait.
