My First Daughter’s Wedding

By Ana Garcia, October 8, 2019 — I had to prepare a wedding in fifteen days because I found out my eldest daughter, Ana, was pregnant. She was already engaged with her boyfriend beforehand but once she announced the pregnancy we decided to have the wedding as soon as possible. When I was preparing for my daughter’s wedding, I bought her a dress from Macy’s. But in the process of ironing it at home, I burned it. Two days before the wedding, I had to buy another wedding dress at a boutique called Elsa’s. The whole family took part in helping plan the wedding but everyone was following my lead.
It was my responsibility to pick up the cake the maid of honor had ordered. She had ordered an eight-tier cake going up like a spiral staircase and decorated in white and mint green. I rented a hall in Paterson and hired a party planner to decorate it with the same colors as the cake. Ana was getting her hair and makeup done at my house. My other two daughters were the bridesmaids and were dressed in mint green with big white flowers in their hair. The groomsmen were their boyfriends, now husbands. My dress was a baby yellow and my hair was up in the bun. Everyone looked beautiful and the wedding went smoothly. Everyone danced all night and the party lasted till four in the morning. Although it happened quickly, I was happy that my first daughter was getting married and my first grandchild was on its way.
