By Carole Kuiken, October 8, 2019 — I have four beautiful grandchildren. Lucy is my oldest, she is 21, Grace is next who is 15, Jill is 13, and Liam, my youngest, is 6. My grandchildren are the best thing in my life and I am my happiest when I am with them. All of them are so very different and special in their own way. Lucy is so funny and smart with the biggest heart and a love of traveling. Grace is so dedicated to her schoolwork and being a talented musician. Jill is a star athlete and is an amazing athlete. Liam is my baby and he just loves to play superheroes and hangout with his grandma.
While all of my grandkids are so different, they all share one thing in common when it comes to spending time with their grandma. Every Christmas since Lucy was about 2 years old I made it a tradition to make Christmas cookies with my grandchildren. I allowed them all, even from such small ages, to have their own rolling pin and do the shapes themselves and decorate each cookie however they wanted. It gives them a chance to make a mess and just have fun at home with grandma. Not every grandchild of mine enjoys the same things. Lucy hates to shop, but Gracie and I could shop all day. Lucy loves to go to the movies, but Jill can’t sit still that long. They all love to make cookies though and I am my absolute happiest when I am making Christmas cookies with my grandkids.
