My Best Christmas

By Carmella, April 13, 2019 — When I was younger, my family was poor and my siblings and I always received coal in [our] stockings for Christmas. Despite this, we would always decorate the house and try our best to keep up the Christmas spirit. One December, one of my brothers hit a little girl with the family car, and back then, insurance was not as popular, meaning that my parents would probably have to pay expensive hospital bills for the little girl. My parents got so angry that they made us take down the decorations, making me believe this would be the worst Christmas. We continuously begged my parents to put the decorations back up, so they eventually allowed us to. After, my oldest brother returned home from the service and bought us all Christmas gifts off our lists, when we thought we wouldn’t receive anything. Along with this, the little girl’s family had health insurance and she recovered from her injuries. Despite everything that happened, I ended up having the best Christmas from my childhood and that is one of my favorite memories.
