Mark of the Times

By Delores Wilson, August 15, 2019 — The mayor of Philadelphia said something that I witnessed and grew up in that particular time and era, when young men settled their differences with a fistfight. I’m not saying that’s the best way to settle the difference. However, no one was seriously hurt. It seems to me that a man would appear out of nowhere. I never heard what he was saying to the fellows that was engaged in the fistfight. I only saw his mouth moving and the next thing I knew they were shaking hands. The mayor who witnessed that type of behavior said they would be friends for life.

I too witnessed the same behavior and they would shake hands and become friends for life. There was no retaliation. Forgiveness and generosity was extended instead.
