Loss

By Gladys, April 24, 2019 – I have had a rough life.  I was born in North Carolina. When I was 10 years old my father passed away and we moved to New Jersey to be near relatives.  They gave us money to take the train back to North Carolina, but we did not go.  I graduated from Central High School in Newark (New Jersey) in 1950.  At that time all girls had to take the commercial curriculum.  My twin brother joined the Air Force and passed away in his 20s.  We were not close.  I am the last one in my family; my two brothers and two sisters are deceased.  My husband passed away in January.  He and I were founding members of Friendship Baptist Church in Hamden, Connecticut.  Even though we now live in New Jersey, the pastor and church members came to the funeral.  Members of Friendship Baptist Church are considered members forever, even if they move away.
