Living for the Movies

By Barbara Lyden, August 11, 2016  — My mother and I were good buddies when it came to moving picture shows.  We both loved movies.  My sister and mother didn’t care for the same kind of movies, so that left the two of us. My father only saw “Going My Way” with Bing Crosby.

I remember some cold winter nights and we would always walk, no matter how cold.  The rest of the family had absolutely no interest in them.  But we had some good old times.  My family is still surprised at some of the movies we saw, including the original “King Kong.”  I tried to model my life after some of the movie stars in impressionable young minds. Oddly, though, I can almost say I’ve lived a rather movie star’s life.  It’s been incredible that it has worked out that way.
