Listen to Your Mother

By Patrica T., September 8, 2019 — Fred was around [my grandson’s] age. He was with the boys and [his sister Kibby] was with him. Kibby was Fred’s baby girl. He never left her behind. I liked how it was back in my day when family was tight. Fred and his friends played friends baseball while Kibby sat down. He always [hung] out with his friends behind my neighbor’s backyard because it was normal back in the day. Now, the news and all are showing crazy things that are happening now.
I don’t know why Fred didn’t listen to me when I [told] him to watch over Kibby. He started playing baseball with his friends and was getting ready to bat. I looked through my backyard and seen my neighbor’s yard and Kibby wasn’t there. Everyone’s having a good ole time and Fred didn’t notice Kibby being gone. I yelled “FREEEEEDD!!!!” towards the neighbor’s yard. Boy do I tell you, he was holding the bat and when the pitcher threw the ball, he turned around listening to the sound of my voice, looking for me, then POW!!!! The ball hit him right there in his jaw. Mmmm he had to go to the hospital after the ball left a hole in his face. Knocked out almost all his teeth. Luckily, they were baby teeth.
He should’ve listened to me, I’m telling you. If he listened to me and had his sister with him at all times, then I wouldn’t have to call his name. I know he learned his lesson. After that, Fred made sure Kibby was always with him.
