Let’s Laugh

By Carolyn Boston, December 17, 2020 — In these anxious and stressful times, it’s good to have comedians who have the gift of making people laugh about life and the strain of what people are going through in everyday life. From the government and its officials to all the plights we face, their humor and their writers, who write their materials, have assisted in leveling stress.
Laughter is an essential part of emotional well-being. It’s good for the soul like homemade chicken soup when you’re sick. Humor causes us to relate, regroup, and often times to perceive an issue differently. Comedians are born with a special insight about people and the world they live in. They crank out jokes that make us laugh so hard that we cry because the joke is so funny.
Being a comedian isn’t easy from my point of view. Comedians have to be gifted in that area, to begin with. Think about all the comedians you know. Some may be stand-up comedians like Billy Crystal, Rodney Dangerfield, Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart, etc. Others are producers of hilarious films like Tyler Perry. Many started out in the theater. Nevertheless, we need to laugh, and their gift of mirth never disappoints us.
Some of us may have friends or family members, not in the spotlight, who are natural comedians and we find ourselves gravitating to them to hear their next joke about anything they deem worthy to comment on. Laughter helps us to heal the stressful mind and spreads a joyous, soothing balm upon our spirit. Let’s continue to laugh at ourselves and all the crazy happenings taking place in the world today. Laughter is a quicker picker-upper for the human spirit. Continue to laugh, love and live!
