Jobs

By Charles Weber, April 22, 2019 — Starting at age 13 I worked for my father’s electrical company called Weber Electric. I started off helping him with small jobs, but as I got older I helped him with the more complicated electrical work on houses. My father expected a lot out of me, and we did not always have the best relationship. He was a German immigrant who was very tough and often times harsh to me, which really affected our relationship, especially while we worked together. I learned a lot through this job, but I also figured out that this was not what I wanted to do [for] the rest of my life. I ended up hating this job and only worked for it as long as I did so I [could] make money to pay for my car and schooling. I went through a lot of different stages of self-discovery during this time and ultimately decided to go away to college at Villanova University. I enjoyed myself at this school but eventually had to transfer to Saint John’s University. After schooling, I worked for another electrical company where I got the opportunity to work with NASA, which I ended up loving and found much interest in.
