By Edith, April 6, 2019 — I’m from Copenhagen, Denmark and during World War II, I went through some of the worst times of my life. Germany invaded my home country of Denmark and we were all suffering there. On May 5th, 1945, Nazi Germany was defeated and moved out of Denmark giving us that free feeling we’ve been longing for. I will never forget people parading the streets and celebrating life so happily in front of me. That feeling of freedom I received struck down my entire body. This motivated my family to chase even more freedom and, idolizing America and their values, we decided to move to America, to remain free for the rest of our lives. Freedom.
