Creative Listening

By Delores Wilson, October 24, 2019 — We have many gifts and skills that the Creator of the Universe has given each one of us. We take them for granted. Sadly, we don’t tap into them or use them for HIs glory and for the good of others.

He, the Creator, has given us the power of choice. When we choose to do his will, the gifts and skills for his purposes, one will discover more gifts are inside.

Creative listening is one gift. When we choose to listen and give no opinion or advice, it projects to the speaker you are interested to me. When we go to the psychiatrist, the psychiatrists listen, hears what the person is saying and what he is not saying.

I, myself, am learning to practice the gift. It takes discipline because as human beings, I am tempted to say because of this or because of that. Basically saying what they already know.

My mother said to me many years ago, “You always talk to your father.” My reply was, “Daddy listens.” She looked at me like a light was turned on and from that day until she passed, I shared everything with both of my parents because they listened. I was given insight. I am now practicing to remain silent and ask what do you think of that, or have you thought of this. Hopefully, we become a people that really care to listen.
