Celebrating a Legacy of Love for Elaine C. Young

By Denise W., October 1, 2020 — Today, we bow in humble submission to praise God for Elaine C. Young who was born on March 10, 1935, to the late Frank Carter and the late Lucille Henderson Carter. In 1957, Elaine Carter was united in holy matrimony to Herbert Young and together they were blessed with two sons.

Speaking in an eloquent voice, she addressed current events with wisdom and knowledge. Elaine took the time to encourage others to attentive listening, to educate by an excellent example, and to edify others with love and kindness. Elaine had a flair for fun. She enjoyed Atlantic City, the racetrack, cards, Bingo, Yanni’s music, Dancing With the Stars, baseball, and football. She had a passion for watching military history, particularly samurai fighting- the pomp and pageantry which amused her. Elaine had an innate aptitude for mathematics. Elaine matriculated through the Philadelphia public school system. She excelled as a skilled home care provider of whom the most elite clients requested for years. Her employers were impressed with her organizational skills and meticulous housekeeping.

Elaine accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She was a member of the 48th Street Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Her favorite scripture was found in the Bible, Deuteronomy 29:9. Elaine was a loving wife and mother, exemplified qualities in Proverbs 31:25-29. “Strength and honor are her clothing and she shall rejoice in a time to calling. She opened her mouth of wisdom, and in her tongue is a law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise up and call her blessed. Her husband also he praises her. Many daughters have done virtually but now excels them all.” Elaine ascended to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
