Boy From the Pharmacy

By Kathleen DeLuca, April 15, 2019 — I met the love of my life in a pharmacy. I knew from the first day I met him that he was the love of my life. I went to the pharmacy after school and I picked up a prescription for my mom. When I went to the counter to pay, the boy working at the counter said hi to me and I said hi back. We never said anything more than hi but I left thinking he was very cute. When I got home my neighbor came over and told me that the young man from the pharmacy thought I was really cute. I couldn’t believe it because I had thought the same thing. She suggested I call him and ask him to my prom because I went to an all-girls school. I called him at the pharmacy and asked him to my junior prom. I gave him my number so he could call me back with his response, and it took him over 3 days to answer me. Eventually, when he called me back I told him it’s ok and he didn’t have to go with me and not to worry about it. However, he persisted on coming. After we went to prom, we dated for another 3 years until I asked him to marry me. He said yes and we got married at 18. We were together for 55 years.
