As Usual, God is Present for Me

By Nouria Bennouna, February 6, 2020 — It was in 1999, I was traveling with my youngest son Hamza. He was 10 years old. At these times I traveled a lot both outside of the country but especially inside Morocco. I had a strong car that I loved a lot. It was a Mercedes 240, about what people said, it never died.
We were enjoying a beautiful part of the countryside, and without any announcement, my lovely and strong car stopped suddenly in the middle of the street. I tried hard to turn it on, but it didn’t, then I brought it to the right side of the [road]way. I opened the hood trying to understand something, but I didn’t. I was so perplexed I didn’t know what to do. There were no people, no houses, no stores in the area.
After a moment I decided to raise my hand for a car coming. Then the driver stopped, he came toward me and asked me what happened. I told him, he took a look at the hood, then went to his car and brought at toolbox. He worked [on] the car, then told me that the gas filter was full. It didn’t let gas cross it, I needed to change with a new [one].
I responded, “I would like, but I am in the middle of nowhere, how can I have a new one?” He said, “Okay, I will help you and when you go to your city, you [can] change it”. He went again to his car and brought 5 liters of gas that he bought for a machine on his farm. Then he took out the filter and cleaned it very well with the gas he had until it was like new. He put it in its place then told me, “I am [a mechanic], you don’t have to pay me, just buy for me the gas I used.” I followed him to a gas station and paid the 5 liters. How much God is on my side. Thank you, God.
