A Smile for the Day

By Agnes Reilly, May 17, 2017 — The other day, Jessica, Patty and I were entertained while standing by the window, by a squirrel.  She stared at us and wondered when we could come out and play with her.  But, she got tired after awhile.  Patty then put some food out for her.  She looked and looked at the small piles of food.  Finally, she trusted it enough to eat.

You should see her when she gets in the bird feeder.  She turns upside down as if she is standing on her head.  I keep saying,  “She’s going to fall.  She’s going to fall!”  But, she gets down okay.  She brings a friend down sometimes, but her friend isn’t as close to us as she is.  Patty has her named, but I can’t think of it right now, except, it’s a girl’s name.

They are interesting to watch.  They do something different every day.  The birds don’t go near the bird feeder when the squirrels are around, but when they see that it is safe, the birds go in for food.  They get their share.

The squirrel has the same path every day.  She follows the wall and sits there for a while.  Eventually she follows the path home.

Watching them is very entertaining.
