By Kashmira Kapadia, October 7, 2019 — … [My son] completed his undergraduate studies in a different state in India than we lived. Going to college in India was a big deal in the 1970s, but going to school out of state was an even bigger deal. The only kids that went out of state for college were academically gifted, which included [my son], or extremely wealthy. [My son] was accepted to the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani to get his bachelor’s in chemical engineering so he could join the family business with [his father]. [My son] spent about 3 and a half years at Pilani and was able to graduate a semester early which was another great accomplishment, among the rest.

When he came back from college, he received a lot of recognition from our family and friends and he was widely praised for his accomplishments. This was the first time that he was this far away from home, and he was still able to succeed without any help from his his parents or any another family members. [My husband] and I were very proud of him and that was a happy moment that I will always cherish.
