A Grandmother’s Happiness

By Jean Pino, January 26, 2020 — The happiest day of my life was marrying [my husband]. We had a good life. The next best thing was having children. We had [my daughter], Joe, and Brian. We had a lot of sports. it was a lot of fun. We really did, we had a lot of fun. And then the really special thing was having grandchildren. They were the best thing that ever happened to me. That was the best thing. Loving them, playing with them, taking care of them. It was great. It was great to talk about them to people. And they played sports, we followed them. We went to every place with them, whatever they did we followed them. And we loved every minute of it. We missed it when they were done. Really to watch [them] graduate…college was a big accomplishment. One of the best things. And now [my granddaughter], and she’s going to be a big big one [in her graduate program].

The special things are like holidays. Spending Christmas and Christmas Eve with [my granddaughter] and I cooking together and baking and all. It’s a lot of fun. And we had our dog, our Bruno, and he was another best thing. And we had a lot of birds. I don’t know, these are the things that make me happy. You know, they are the top special things. I love working in my garden. I love working with flowers, I love growing vegetables. You know those things I enjoy. I just like to see you happy. There’s just so much. I mean really, the garden, the kids, [my husband], the trips we all take. I love every minute of it.
