A Good Month

By Dandy Darn, March 22, 2016 — March is a good month for me. I like it for so many reasons!

1. I have six birthdays in my immediate family, so I get to express my love for them in different ways. I may cook something for them, or buy them a card or a gift, or all of the above just because I love them.

2. The weather is changing. It’s getting warmer. The trees in the parks are getting green, and the flowers are starting to blossom—some of the early bloomers are already out. It’s spring time; yesterday was the first day of spring. I can finally start putting up all of these heavy clothes. I can walk in the park and go to outside events. I can open my windows and get some fresh air. I can cook outside on the grill. I can plant flowers outside in the gardens.

3. March is the beginning of the year for me because it is too cold in January or February to do anything. I get March Madness—this is when I start going to a lot of rummage sales, yard sales, garage sales, and even garden sales. These are some of the reasons why I like this month so much. It is always a good beginning for a good year.

4. Oh yeah, let’s not forget Easter! Easter bunnies, eggs that are colorful, and baskets that are full of candy! In addition, there is Palm Sunday and the risen Christ that symbolizes new life and a new beginning. We were indeed buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life (Romans 6: 4). Amen.
