20 May 2018 A Generational Thing by Librarian | posted in: The Stories of Pitman NJ | 0 By Sharon Yesner, January 31, 2018 — They say that being an Eagles fan is more than liking football, more than liking sports; it is a generational thing, something that parents share with their kids, a special connection. Well that’s me and the Eagles! When my Dad was alive, they were his Eagles, yes, his!!! Every Sunday!! I remember being in elementary school and asking him, why do you watch them, they are always losing! I remember 14 game seasons, when they were 2-12, I remember when Mike McCormick was their coach, he later went to a newer team, the Seahawks. I remember that he took us to see a preseason practice at West Chester University when Bill Bergy was on the Team. My Dad was so excited for a play (I think it was during the 1st Miracle in the Meadowlands), he jumped up in his chair and broke his recliner coming back down. My Dad was also a driver salesman, mostly for bread companies, but for a couple of years he worked for Haagen Daz ice cream. So imagine my surprise when I heard on the radio tonight that Doug Pederson loves Haagen Daz ice cream. I have to believe my Dad is looking down and watching his Eagles about to play in the Super Bowl! Love you Dad! Miss you!
