By Irene Parker, October 1, 2019 — One of the best birthdays of my life was my 70th birthday. My family had been planning for weeks to throw me a surprise party at my daughter Donna’s house in Flemington. Donna’s house has a large amount of land and there was plenty of space for everyone to be able to hang out comfortably. The drive up to the house was very surprising! Donna’s house is set far back from the road, so as I was driving down the long driveway, all I could see was a sea of cars parked along the driveway and around the house. I assumed all these people were here for some other reason, not a surprise party.
When I entered the house, everyone, of course, yelled “Surprise!” and I was stunned. My family had arranged for distant relatives from Vermont and Virginia to come to visit for the party which added immensely to my surprise. The day was filled with swimming in the pool, having a caterer, waiters, music and amazing decorations. There were even fireworks at the end of the night. It was my favorite birthday because I was surrounded by the right people and had tons of fun. I never wanted the party to end.
