2018 Flower Show

By Carolyn Boston, March 7, 2019 — I was recovering from major surgery last year and was at a very low point physically. When the Flower Show came in March, I longed to go, but was not prepared financially to pay for the ticket. It seemed to me that if I could just get there, I’d feel much better and there’d be a “lifting” in my spirit. I let the idea go to the show evaporate.

During one of the celebration events at the Senior Residence where I reside, a raffle was being held to win a ticket to the Flower Show. Amazingly, I won the ticket! I was surprised to have won and excited that I was NOW ABLE to go to the show!

What an experience! The show was awesome. There was so much to see. I could hardly take it in. One of the most interesting events at the show as a presentation given by the Philadelphia Zoo on rare animals from around the world. The two young animal handlers were an awesome team and they provided a wealth of knowledge about the animals and uncommon facts about each species, coupled with myths people think about the animals.

The Flower Show was just what I needed. I walked away revived, restored, and rejuvenated.

Happiness resurged. There was a spring in my step and spring had sprung in my heart.
