Surprise Vow Renewal

By Howard, January 30, 2019— My wife and I did not get the huge wedding we had always wanted. It was small, but special, exactly how I had always wanted it. However, I knew the love of my life loved adventures, and loved to share special memories with me. So, for our ten year anniversary, I planned a little surprise. I convinced her to take a 10 year honeymoon trip with me to Hawaii.

Once we got to the island, I told her that there was a bar at the end of the island I hadn’t been to in years and really wanted to go there first. Once we got into the town, I pulled our car up to a church on the rock and waters edge. She of course questioned at that moment why we were stopping at a church. I told her I wanted to take a pit stop to show her this beautiful building. However, once we stepped out of the car, two of the church members placed floral leis over our heads.

After we walked inside, I walked with her down the aisle to the pastor, standing in front of the stain glass wall overlooking the water of the island’s edge while the sun set. The pastor was waiting for both of us, and I finally shared with her my surprise vow renewal. Needless to say, that was one of the best memories I ever made with my loving wife. She passed away a few years back, and it’s beautiful memories like this that help show me how lucky of a man I was to have such a perfect woman in my life for as long as I did. Now I am happy to share stories like these to my children, grandchildren, and friends.
