Strange Things in the Sky

By Eileen G., August 15, 2017 — Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. 1955.  It was between 9 and 10 pm the night before I started senior high school.   Where the strip is between the sidewalk and the curb there was a tree growing between the houses and I was looking at it thinking about my future.  I saw a light, it came close enough that when the object got to the tree the leaves moved.  It was round like a wedding cake with two layers [and] the smaller part on top.  It had windows on the bottom slightly tilted.  I strained to see inside.  It slowly floated over the tree and down over the horizon towards the power plant.  My dad came out on the porch and said, “Eileen, what was that?” I said, “I don’t know”. He went back in the house and I stayed on the porch astonished.  A few minutes later it appeared to lift off over the power plant and disappeared towards the bridge over the river.  We lived on 10th and Front Street, so the object was at least ten blocks away. I was still astonished.  The light appeared again and slowly rose in the sky and passed by me on the left.  The higher it went the faster it went until it was out of sight.  I didn’t tell anyone, but I remember thinking I was starting Sr. high school and my life will never be the same.

Several decades later my kids were in elementary school and I saw something again.  We were living on a farm five miles from Titusville.  I was bowing down at the window to say my nightly prayers and I saw a star with a red glow around it. After I was finished my prayers I looked up and it was a few inches above the tree line between the power line and our home.  It came above the power line and my husband got up and came to the window.  He had been a pilot in the Air Force and got out his binoculars and said it was coming closer. [We] almost couldn’t see it move.  Eventually it cruised over the horse pasture. [It] glided over the pasture close enough to rattle the disses but it made no sound.  It was shaped like a piece of pie.  The red lights I saw were at the tail or small part of the pie shape, the rest was glowing white. It looked like it had four huge screens side by side in the white area. By this time we were downstairs watching this thing.  It made a sharp turn towards Cross Creek and the higher it went the faster it went.

About a month later we had visitors at our home from New York and we saw a path of light but no object.  They were the only times I saw this phenomenon.
