Rehabilitation

By June Nicholas, October 17, 2014 — I was just recovering from a hip replacement, convalescing at Swabb Rehabilitation Hospital. I was attending several physical therapy sessions a day. After several weeks of physical therapy, you could make your own decisions. You could decide what activities you wanted to participate in. I was delighted with the freedom of choices, especially when I’d been rather confined in the hospital. I was free as a bird let out of a cage. I could choose the computer room, the art room, the art classes, the library with varied books and magazines, or the roof top.

The roof top was just too beautiful for words. There were breathtaking colorful flowers of all kinds, a lavish outdoor fish pond, and a beautiful sounding waterfall. The music on the CD was melodious. The sounds of the birds making happy tweets were great to listen to. All of the  sounds, fragrances, and colors on the roof just made me feel exhilarated with a collage of beauty all around me. I was deliriously happy and at peace with myself. Life is just super when you can appreciate the beauty of your surroundings on any given day; giving praise to God for giving you another day to enjoy.
