Our Moral Compass

By Dandy Darn, April 19, 2016 — Sometimes when I think about racism, I know it is morally wrong. I’m glad I live in these times, and not the time of the Civil War. In those days, they were fighting about the abolishment of slavery in the U.S. The author Harriet Beecher Stowe and her novel helped to change the nation’s moral compass. Her graphic depiction of racism and the injustice of slavery helped lead to the start of the Civil War.

As a community, we should first take inventory of our own personal lives. Change begins first in our lives, then God may use us to change a nation’s moral compass.

1) We must first acknowledge our responsibility as community members—active and helping in the area in which we live.

2) Examine our own hearts—we should be willing and able to help.

Nothing is politically right if it is morally wrong.
