Looking Forward

By Ernestine Garnett-Banas, October 18, 2016 — Looking Forward

I have concerns for the world,
Probably like every other girl.
Less war, famine, and hate;
Let’s stop before it’s too late.

More room for love, compassion and truth.
Babies, sunrises, and joy are proof
That we can make the world better
for future generations.
Let’s sing, dance and share libations.

Encourage education, travel and success.
Discourage dishonesty, fear, and regret.
With God’s help, it can be truth,
a better world for us, our elders and our youth.

We have all experienced triumphs and defeat.
Life is a circle so it’s never complete.
Find others who share your ideals and views.
There is so much to win. What is there to lose?

Holding on to injustices of yours or others
Does not help you, your friends or brothers.
Try to look forward, it only makes sense.
Letting anger fester won’t bring recompense.

Enjoy each new day with all it has to give.
Look forward to tomorrow as long as you live.
