Dancing Clown with No Music

By Loretta Gaither, May 31, 2012 — I was in a play as a clown on the 24th of May. Besides the writing class, I belong to a drama class. We performed in the auditorium at the senior center. I was wearing a clown outfit made out of bowties with many colors sewn together and a gray wig, big nose, and small black glasses. Even my face was painted many colors. You couldn’t see me but people could tell it was me because of my dancing. I made up my own music in my head and hummed it in my imagination; I danced to my own beat. There were a few minutes when I was dancing by myself. I was standing in place with my big shoes and my cane but I moved my whole body – the cane was dancing with me too!  I heard the voices from the audience, “That’s Loretta. That’s how she dances with her hips.” The audience went wild! “Go, Loretta! Go, Loretta!” They cheered.
