Change of Seasons

As the year progresses, we move through the seasons. A favorite season for me – the Fall – is now upon us.  The other day, I was walking toward home along Chicago Avenue, admiring the golden color of the honey-locust leaves that had fallen and were now lying in plentiful heaps on the sidewalk.  I thought how nice it would be to have a bowl full of those colorful leaves as a bright spot in my apartment.

At that point, I was about to pass a two-year-old who was having a great time redistributing the leaves on the sidewalk when – almost as if she had read my mind – she scooped up a handful of leaves and handed them to me. Yes, I did take them home, and they are now brightening my table.
